Why is it wise to wear gloves when spreading fertilizer in a garden?

Straight fertilizers are usually salts so they can dry out your skin and cause pain in cuts.
However, most of the more expensive brands are “prilled” ..wrapped in soluble little bubbles and are less likely to harm a bare hand.
OTOH, some fertilizers, prilled and not, have weed killers in the blend that can be absorbed through the skin.
Wearing gloves is a sensible precaution as is eye protection and a dust protector over the mouth, although none of these are mandatory.
lol first ewww i hate putting fertilisers their so gross omg but i ahte to say it but everything starts from that omg .eww worst part is their made form our own poop. imagine this famer planting a celery and putting fertilizer and that celery absorbs the fertilizer(poop) and it gets shipped to groceries and somsone buys it and eatin it right now..EEWWWW so gross he or she is eatin someone elses POOOOOP
some people can be allergic to some of the chemicals and if your hands sweat or for some other reason get wet there is a chance you can get a chemical burn. when I was actively farming I used to use about 10 Tons a year and to tell you the truth I never wore gloves and never had any problem
The chemical stuff is nasty. And yes it can go intoyou right thru your skin. Or stain you blue, if you have that kind.
If its like composted manure (or uncomposted) there can also be little things in it, like glass or thorns or seed poity things. Sharp stuff to cut you.
Sometimes I find broken plastic and wire in bags of compost. Those cuts get infected real easy with manure and dirt in them.
Gloves are good. Make sure you get a pair that fits and will keep the cutting things, like rose thorns, from stabbing you. I prefere leather. Those rubber coated cloth ones are good too. But they make my hands sweat.
it is wise to wear cloves if you mess with any fertlilizer or anything chemicla because fertilizer has nigrogen.
Because fertilizer is not for humans, just for plants.
the chemicals will be absorbed into you body through the skin and it burns your hands
because it can burn and or irriate your skin.
so you don’t get chemicals on your hand, it can’t be healthy
Ok, how about a compromise? Why not take your first two years at CSU and save up some money that you won't be using on apartments and tuition and put it towards your last two years in London? If you can take your general education requirements close to home inexpensively and transfer them in your junior year it makes excellent sense to put off borrowing as long as possible and cutting down both the amount to be repaid and the length of time it takes to repay it.
This is a case where you should be talking to admissions counselors and transfer counselors at both schools before you make any decisions without all the right answers.
I'm a licensed electrician, and I'll agree……you should always turn off the power before working on any circuit. I never work on ANYTHING hot, unless there's no other option. Take the time to turn the breaker or safety swith off! Also, you should never touch any of the utility company's wire, under any circumstances. The only gloves that are acceptable when working on live service drops or service laterals are insulated rubber gloves, with leather or nylon outer jackets, or other rigid coating materials. They are pretty expensive <a couple of hundred dollars at least> and must be inspected regularly for holes, tears or other damage. Please do not work on any live utility feeds, for you own safety!!!

buy some RIT dye at your local save-on or rite-aid. its real cheap and easy to use. I just buy the dye powder in the box and works great.
1. add dye powder to hot water 2. put gloves in and stir it for about 30min 3. let water cool and rinse gloves in cold water

Check these out. These have a great grip as well as terry lined for warmth. These would fit much more "snug" than a mechanics glove and they are a third or fourth the cost.
These also come unlined which would still provide some warmth and hand protection as well. Hope this helps.

No – the onus is on you to improve the drainage in your garden.
Hey wise man say, "forgiveness is devine, but never pay full price for late pizza!" HURRY UP!!
You don't wanna wear anything that's not you, so wear something comfortable yet cute. Maybe a jean skirt(lenghty) and cute top with some cute sandals, wear what you would normally wear. If you go and dress up jus to make an impresson you would be lying cause it's not you, so wear what you like jus make sure it's ladylike/presentable/parent approved
And I really don’t just want to call people when I’m stressed and upset. I’d think you’d start screening and not answering when I did call. Yikes. I’m just looking for light-hearted chat.
im working on it… i gotta buy new gloves so when i walk from Georgia to New York, my hands wont get cold
Holly prunings, or any prickly plants cut up small and used as a mulch on the flower beds will be an effective deterent, but you may get pricked yourself! You could try zoo poo, but it is pricy. Also, Coleus canina is a cat deterant plant you could try.
Or go the other way, and gift your neighbours with nepeta or cat grass, both of which cats love!
I am against animal cruelty, as is Google.
This whole thing was staged and is actually a part of a Freemason Ceremony to initiate Taylor Swift into the Masonic Order. As a matter of fact the entire show was a Mass Masonic Occult Ceremony with every shot, every scene being part of it right down to the very little detail with the other performer comming out covered in blood. The average citizen would not notice this…….But those of us that study Symbolism and the history of Freemasonry could not have missed it even if they tried.
you only forget something like that once.
I am responding to Jason’s comment. Even you can’t agree with Jason’s comment, Jesse.

As fall approaches, you don't want your plants to put on a bunch of tender new growth that will be vulnerable to the cold, but you do want to keep feeding, so avoid high nitrogen content. I prefer to use natural products in the garden, and there are some good organic multipurpose fertilizers available commercially. The dry organic fertilizers are naturally slow release, as the nutrients become gradually available to the roots of the plants as they slowly get watered down into the soil. Covering the fertilizer with an inch or 2 of good compost will also be helpful. The compost not only has some nutrient value of its own, but it also helps conserve water and keep the root zone a more constant temperature by slowing evaporation.

You might want to consider a really deep fuchsia, or perhaps a tasteful lavender or teal. Think about colors that are going to help you make the fashion statement that you're going for. Look around the Internet for ideas on color:

You should first remove the top 5 inches to get grass roots out of the garden. Then, till down at least 1-1/2 foot. It depends on what type of flowers you are going to use though. If you are using mostly bulbs, 18"'s is good enough. If the plants have "Tap" roots, like a tree, and your soil isn't right, you should go as deep as possible, adding mulch, sand, and black dirt to the total bed.
Good Luck and might I suggest you grow endangered plants native to your area? You can contact me at for help finding a list for the proper plants. It is very rewarding knowing you can help your native ground return to its "roots".
All professions are shaky right now, so don't let that be a deterrent. Teaching is a very noble profession. And there is always a shortage of teachers in math and the sciences.
I have worked with many student interns, and whenever they asked me about career advice or job shortages, I always tell them the same thing: Don't worry about the competition for jobs or how many jobs are out there. Just believe there is one job that you are perfectly suited for and it is out there waiting for you!
Reminds me of an Angel living in Brazil named Veronica, I can’t get either out of my head. What a great problem I have.
Muy buena pelicula, y esa cancion a como me gusta…!
When dressing for an interview stay away from loud colors and making a fashion statement keep it classic keep it simple. Wear either a dark blue or grey suit. A black suit is also a no no, considered to be a power suit for the Boss. Black shoes a must always safe.
