My gardening gloves smell?

Was it wrong for me to not go to work?
It's my first job at a horse stable. I'm starting off by weeding all the gardens. My step-mom bassically got me the job because she has worked there (taking care of the horses) for years now. She asked her boss, the owner of the property if I could work there as a summer job. So I started late because my boss got sick and I've been working there for almost a month now. He always said to my step-mom that I'm a really good worker because I never take brakes or complain and I get the job done well but I'm a little slow. I agree but I have gotten so much faster. My boss said it does not matter how long it takes me to weed each garden because he pays me by the job.
Now what I did not know was the soil is made of manuer. Next thing I know since the last time I worked (wich is always whatever random time my step-mom works) there was this bad smell in my room.I couldn't figure it out until I looked in my work bag where my weeding gloves are. And they smell horrible, the worst thing i have ever smelled in my life! If I touch them my hands smell too. So thiis morning around 8 I put them in the sink and hand washed them with soap. Some of the dirt came out but it still smells. I hung them to dry realizing they are not going to dry by 11 for work. My step-mom returned my call thinking she was going to pick me up. All I said was I don't feel good wich is true but it's because of the smell. And she gave me an attitude and she got the idea something was up and I did not want to go. She is my step-mother and will never let me forget this.The reason I didn't tell the truth is because she would laugh, give me a hard time and make me go anyway. The whole ride she would lecture me about laundry and responsibility. Trust me I know her.
I've got 3 problems-nausea, guilt, and smelly work gloves
